Privacy policy

Effective October 27, 2026 · Revised October 28, 2026

This is an English translation. The Korean original prevails if the two differ.

At a glance
  • There is no sign-up, so we never collect your name, email, phone number or password.
  • Your PC's unique ID and hardware information are sent only as SHA-256 hashes computed on your PC. The original values are never transmitted.
  • Wallpapers, shortcuts, notes and other content you save are kept only so the same PC can load them again.
  • We do not use your information for advertising or marketing, and we do not sell or share it with other companies.

1. Information we process and why

MiniArea WebOS Lite (the "Service") uses your PC as your account without sign-in, and processes only the following.

ItemDetailsPurpose
PC identifierSHA-256 hash of the OS-assigned unique PC ID (Windows MachineGuid, macOS IOPlatformUUID, Linux machine-id). The server hashes it again with a server secret before storing itAutomatic sign-in (account identification)
Hardware fingerprintSHA-256 hashes of the SMBIOS UUID, motherboard/BIOS/disk serial numbers and network MAC addressesRestoring your account after an OS reinstall
Device informationOperating system, PC name (hostname), app version, first registration and last access timesTelling devices apart, compatibility, troubleshooting
Content you saveWallpaper choice, desktop icon layout, web shortcuts, notepad and sticky note content, nickname (if entered)Continuing your settings and notes on the same account
Local program shortcut backupNames, executable paths and icon images of PC programs you addRestoring shortcuts after an OS reinstall
Recovery codeHash of a recovery code you issue (the code itself is not stored)Moving your account when automatic restore fails, e.g. after replacing hardware
Access logsIP address, request time, downloaded file namePreventing abuse (such as guessing recovery codes), operations and troubleshooting
Website visit statisticsPage visited, visit and download times, the source tag in the link (?from= value), the referring site's domain, operating system, country/region/city estimated from the IP address, and a hash of the IP address and browser information mixed with a secret that changes daily. The IP address itself is not stored in these statistics; the hash cannot reveal the IP, and visitors cannot be linked across days. Location is estimated with a database on our server (DB-IP Lite); IP addresses are not sent anywhereCounting visitors, regions, and visits and downloads per promotion channel

PC names and program paths may contain your Windows user name. If you don't want that, rename your PC or don't add local program shortcuts.

2. Retention and deletion

3. Sharing and processors

We do not provide your information to third parties or outsource its processing, except where law enforcement or other authorities request it through lawful procedures.

To display site icons, the server may request only the site address (domain) from Google's icon service. No information about you is included. External sites you open from the Service (shops, banks, etc.) handle personal information under their own policies.

4. Information stored on your PC and cookies

The app stores the server address, a device token and downloaded wallpaper/icon caches in its settings folder (MiniArea WebOS Lite). The device token is encrypted where the OS supports it. Uninstalling the app and deleting this folder removes everything from your PC (to delete what is stored on the server, see section 5).

Website cookies: If you arrive through a link with a source tag (e.g. fool-dog.com/?from=blog), only that tag is stored in the cookie wl_from for 30 days, solely to count which channel led to a download. If you pick a language from the language menu, only that choice is stored in the cookie wl_lang for one year. On your first visit, the page language is chosen from your browser language and the country estimated from your IP address; the IP address is not stored for this. No other information is put in cookies, and we use no third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and still use the website and downloads.

5. Your rights

You can request access to, correction, deletion or suspension of processing of your information at any time. Email us at the address below with the Device ID shown in the app's Settings; we will verify the device and act on your request. You can delete notes and shortcuts yourself in the app.
