Features

Lightweight, with everything you need

🔑

An account without sign-in

On first launch, an account is created automatically from your PC's unique ID. No username or password to remember.

♻️

Survives an OS reinstall

Your hardware fingerprint finds your existing account again. If replaced parts prevent that, move it with a recovery code.

⚡

Downloads only what you use

Lists and thumbnails come first; full wallpapers and icons are fetched when needed and cached locally. Small install, fast start.

🖼️

High-quality wallpapers

Preview wallpapers by category and apply one with a click. Your choice stays the next time you start.

🎮

Site directory · Game center

Open popular sites by category without searching, and play HTML5 and classic DOS games right from your desktop.

📝

Notes · Sticky notes · Shortcuts

Notes and sticky notes are saved to the server automatically, and you can add shortcuts to programs on your PC.

How it works

Ready in three steps

  1. 1

    Download and install

Get the file for your operating system below and install it.

  2. 2

    Automatic sign-up on launch

Only a hash of your PC's unique ID is sent to get a device token. The original ID never leaves your PC.

  3. 3

    Make it yours

Wallpaper, icon layout, notes and settings sync automatically. There is no save button.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I really not need to sign up?

Right. On first launch, a hash of your PC's unique ID (Windows MachineGuid, macOS IOPlatformUUID, Linux machine-id) is registered and the resulting token is used. We never ask for your name or email.

What if a site isn't in the directory?

First try Find by site name or address in the SITE app. If it's not there, use Add shortcut → Enter manually to put any address on your desktop.

Will I lose my data if I reinstall Windows?

No. Hardware fingerprints such as motherboard, BIOS and disk serials find your account again. If replaced parts prevent that, enter the recovery code you saved from the Settings app.

Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" or Smart App Control blocks the installer.

The current installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a warning. Click More info → Run anyway to continue. However, on Windows 11 PCs with Smart App Control turned on, unsigned programs cannot run at all. A code-signing certificate is on the way, and a signed version will fix this.

macOS says the app is from an "unidentified developer".

Move the unzipped app to Applications, then Control-click → Open it once in Finder; after that it opens normally. If it is still blocked, run xattr -cr "/Applications/MiniArea WebOS Lite.app" in Terminal.

The AppImage won't run on Ubuntu.

On Ubuntu 24.04 and later, AppArmor policy can block AppImages. Use the .deb package; its installer sets the needed permissions.

How much disk space does it use?

Full wallpapers and icons are downloaded only when used and cached; over the limit, the oldest are removed. Check and clear usage in the Storage app.
